Ryan Shortill believes in helping to empower the community, organizations, teams, and corporate clients to realize their productive capabilities through insightful and purpose-driven programming. Ryan has taught at every level of academia from pre-school to university. He is also an accomplished corporate trainer and facilitator. Ryan’s global journeys include six continents, 52 countries, all 50 states, and summiting some of the world’s highest peaks. Ryan holds a B.S. degree in Kinesiology: Outdoor Education from the University of New Hampshire and is trained as a Wilderness EMT and lifeguard. Ryan is the driving force behind the Positive Adventures team in their quest to make a positive impact in the local community that will spill over into the world at large.
Jered Cherry graduated from University of New Hampshire with a B.S. in Kinesiology: Outdoor Education. Prior to Positive Adventures, Jered’s passion for physical fitness and outdoor adventure has taken him all over the globe, supporting and volunteering with a variety of experiential/outdoor education programs. A few highlights include guiding and developing climbing programs across the Southwest, facilitating wilderness therapy programs in the Utah desert, and guiding river trips throughout New England. Jered truly believes that outdoor adventure programs can change the direction of youth across the country and uses his passion and professional experience to develop and implement Positive Adventures’ Outdoor Education programs.
Bri Marlisa, Account Coordinator
Bri has had much experience in forming close relationships with clients. Knowing what it takes to formulate a real team within a company, Bri has been a great add-on. Bri has a knack for grasping computer programs quickly and a love for expanding her knowledge in the sales field. When not crushing it at work, she can be found outdoors in the sunshine.
Born on the Eastern Shore of Maryland, Abbie grew up on the water. Under the tutelage of her two older sisters, she developed a profound love for the outdoors and found her place in nature. Abbie attended Marymount University in Arlington, Virginia where she received her bachelor’s degree in Business and History. She was also a double-sport collegiate athlete, excelling in swimming and soccer. In 2013, Abbie moved to San Diego and began her journey with Positive Adventures where she applies her knowledge of customer service and event planning with her passion for giving back to the community. On any given day, you can find Abbie with a smile on her face and a surfboard in her hand.
Originating from a small town in Upstate New York, Mackenzie has always had a drive to expand her horizons, travel and explore. Eager to see what west coast living was all about, Mackenzie recently made the road trip to San Diego from the New England area. Prior to her move, Mackenzie was employed in Lenox, Massachusetts at the world renown health resort, Canyon Ranch. It was here she fell in love with a holistic wellness approach to health and longevity and continues to practice this lifestyle in the perfect place. Mackenzie graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Recreation and Leisure Studies with a concentration in Tourism Management in 2012. She then started her career in Tourism at two beautiful resorts in Orlando and St. Pete Beach, Florida where she enjoyed working with children and families in the Activities Department. Mackenzie is thrilled to grow and be a part of the mission of Position Adventures!
Eric is a college student attending San Diego Miramar Community College, completing his studies to earn an A.A. Degree in English/Literature Studies. He was born and raised in San Diego, and helps bring the younger generation’s perspective to Positive Adventures. Eric enjoys swimming, hiking, and working on cars. He recently discovered his passion for traveling to other countries while visiting Greece, and would like to soon travel to Italy to learn more about his heritage.
Amy Amodio, Director of Outdoor Education
Amy proudly represents Positive Adventures with an extensive background in outdoor experiential education. With guidance and certifications from the American Mountain Guide Association, the American Challenge Course Association, American Canoe Association and the Wilderness Medicine Institute, her training clearly indicates a strong passion for safe practices in the great outdoors. As a student of Business Management, Amy competed on the Intercollegiate Equestrian Team and later traveled the US and New Zealand as a professional horse back rider. Beginning her career in Outdoor Education, Amy worked across the United States and in the surrounding islands on numerous zipline tours and construction projects. Her involvement included organizing and facilitating week-long trainings for high ropes/zipline staff and managers as well as aiding with the opening of office procedures including creating policies, reservation systems, and human resource portals. In her free time you will most certainly find her on her bicycle, motorcycle, or rock climbing; making the most of California’s outstanding landscape.
